Time to explore! The locals call this The Bay of Penises, seriously...

WOW, what a satisfying day! We hiked up through lush green life to an impressive cascading waterfall. We all jumped off the rock face of the waterfall and swam in the deep refreshing pool. The surrounding plant life so colorful, green and alive after weeks of blue ocean and sky.

Chris and Rourke |
On our walk back Rourke found a bunch of banana's and climbed up a plucked it for us. There is fruit everywhere one looks here and the locals offered us copious amounts as we walked past the homes that we were so heavily loaded we found it difficult to walk back with our gifts. Huge grapefruits, oranges, lemons, limes, coconuts and banana's.
The following day we took a dingy ride around the leeward side of Fatu Hiva and down to the next village/anchorage. The landscape is awesome, caves dotted along the waters edge where we imagined pirates hid their treasure.

This place is quite spectacular. The highest peaks are 871 meters (2800ft) high.

We bought some fresh baguettes in the village, looked at the local artwork and then headed back to T R I B E in a deluge of rain.
The locals have that interesting french polynesian look and have some beautiful tattoos. Rourke is trying every angle to convince us to let him get one, a tattoo that is, not a local.

if you look carefully, see the white dot on the peak, it's a goat! |
Skyla made us a lemon tart (with the fresh lemons) for tea and we sat enjoying that and the sunset. A great start!
