Panama Canal Transit Day 2

Starting out early morning, Lake Gatun

Day two started with a cup of Starbucks Cinnamon Roast Coffee.  Our second advisor joined us in the early morning and we set off through Lake Gatun along the well used route that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

The size of boats along the way ranged from between 30 feet yachts to the longest 973 foot oil tankers.

We had great weather and just after lunch we went through the final 3 locks ( Miraflores and Pedro Miguel) before our bow cut into the Pacific Ocean.  A big thank you to our awesome linehandlers: Bill, Lara, Isobelle, Loic and Mallory who all contributed to the safe transit and an all round fun day, thanks guys!

and we're through, coming up, the Bridge of America's leading to the Pacific Ocean
Now we head over to Panama City for our last stock up before the long stretches of sailing between Panama, Galapagos and the Marquesas ranging from 10 days to 3 weeks at sea.

  1. Congratulations on (what appears to be) a smooth, safe, exciting passage! Looks like it was great fun. I guess there'll be weeks between messages from here on, given the time at sea and the longer reaches you guys will be sailing. Stay safe and have loads of fun.
