George Town, Great Exuma Island

Me, getting excited about putting the Spinnaker up

George Town, otherwise known as Chicken Harbor (most cruisers chicken out here and go no further) so we've been told, is a very sociable place.  In the morning there is a cruisers net on channel 68. Chat n Chill Beach Bar,a favorite among many restaurants, Volleyball Beach(very busy), many, many yachts(a couple hundred) and provisions enough to get what you want.  It is also probably going to be our last place to provision before Cuba.

The 3 Amigo's.  Kids amusing themselves, and us!

Luuurve that dimple!!!

Spinnaker flying
The sail over was a lot of fun, we used our spinnaker for the first time aboard T R I B E, the conditions were perfect.  A few yachts sailed down and we all had our kites up, looking very colorful indeed.

The kids have taken to sleeping outside in the hammocks,
it's the life!

We have met some other families cruising, one catamaran with a family of 8, 6 children!  Needless to say Skyla, Rourke and Layla are loving it!  School is started nice n early so they can get out and play, today we walked over the the windward side of the island to body surf and boogie board, 11 children in all, ages ranging between 5yrs to 16yrs.

Tomorrow we head down to Long Island, hoping to free dive down in a Blue Hole, then on to an atoll...

  1. Greetings Chris, Sascha, Skyla, Rourke and Layla,
I am in such awe at every post you make to the blog! I look everyday in anticipation of the next post. I myself have traveled the Caribbean pretty widely but always as a tourist and never as a resident. Its amazing to me the colors of blue and amazing scenery. I have thought so much about what it takes to be where your at. Steve and I think of you guys often and miss talking with you. We have so many thoughts as to how all the systems are working out and the performance of everything from the new props, to the solar chargers, and even the washing machine on board. Im not sure if you have started using the hatch covers or not and what you think so far? We have our first boat show in mid April so that should be fun. The preparations are non stop as we are trying to imagine all we need. Warm wishes, James O merman50@gmail.com
