Berry Islands to Nassau, New Providence

Eggs Benedict for Breakies before departure
We have a 2 day weather window after hanging around the Berry Islands for a week and a half waiting for a gap, got to go...

The sea is still up and I sit here at the helm I am getting a regular ocean spray in the face.
Our leg today takes us from the Berry Islands across the Tongue of the Ocean to Nassau, New Providence in the Bahamas.  Nassau looms on the horizon.  Skyscrapers on the Tongue of the Ocean.  Not what one would expect to find in the vicinity of Paradise Island.

Sailing North of Paradise Island and down through "The Narrows" at low tide, was quite an experience.  I was at the helm and Chris up front looking for coral heads and shallow shifting sand banks that change with the weather.  It was touch and go as we motored through a narrow of about 60ft wide (T R I B E is 26ft wide).  The Narrow was not the problem, the strong current was and of course the rocks on either side.  I had to throttle up over 3000 revs to counter the current which was pushing us sideways to the rocks.  We were happy to be through and looked back shaking our heads..
We'd read and heard negative things about the crime, theft and muggings in Nassau so we were quite hesitant to go there, but we need fresh produce, so yeah!

The Cloisters
Anchored off the Cloisters, a favorite Wedding destination in the Bahamas, we got to watch a couple saying their vows from our boat this afternoon, a beautiful setting.

Nassau is just full of party boats and clubs and party goers.  We did our shopping, hit Starbucks, spent 2 nights there then sailed on to Highborne Cay in the Exuma Islands.
