Cape Canaveral FL to West Palm Beach FL

Misty morning

Leaving Cape Canaveral

For those who have just joined us, we are sailing down the East Coast of the USA at the moment.  We started in Beaufort North Carolina and have hopped down stopping at Cape Fear NC, Charleston SC, Jacksonville FL, Cape Canaveral FL and are now heading to West Palm Beach FL.  I am working on adding a route map.  This last hop is about 130 nautical miles and we left yesterday at 1pm.  It is now 5:30am and I am on watch with about 2 hours to go.  The sea has been calm and the wind from the East, good for us! Many squalls about so we took down the main sail and put a reef in the Genoa, cruising along at 7 knots, listening to JonnyGuy.

The kids liked the look of this classic, esp the fenders

We were visited today by a pod of about 20 dolphins, that never gets tiring, so beautiful!

For dinner I made a Chunky Mushroom and Potato soup with fresh Parsley from my garden!  Yes people, I have a garden, albeit a small one, non the less, effective.  It yields Parsley, Rosemary,Sweet Basil and Garlic.  Next I will add lettuce and cherry tomatoes, yum.  To top off dinner, Skyla made Apple Crumble for desert, with fresh apples of course! (sadly, not from my garden, but who knows?)  ;)

Looks like we made it in to Port in the nick of time, the wind picked up and so has the swell, I was riding the swell into Lake Worth Inlet, West Palm Beach, woohoo!
