Taylor's Creek Dolphins

Anchored in the creek for a few days now, waiting for a part for the water maker.  Without fail each day, we have been surrounded by playful dolphins.

The kids are loving cruising around in their kayaks, I suppose its like having bicycles on land, some independence.

On the one side of the creek is Beaufort, a little fishing village that is about 300 years old. Preservation efforts have kept Old Beaufort much as it was when the town incorporated in 1722.  Blackbeard the Pirate's house is located just behind us here in Taylors Creek.

Pirates in Beauforts time warp

Blackbeard's  ship, the Queen Annes Revenge, ran aground at the inlet to Beaufort in the 1700's.  It was recently discovered here and they have been bringing up treasures from the deep.  There is a display at the Beaufort Museum, so be sure to pay them a visit if you come to Beaufort, we all enjoyed it.

Parallel to Beaufort is Carrot Island, part of Rachel Carson Coastal Estuarine Reserve.  Carrot Island is home to feral horses that live wild.

I've decided to include some random pics of the smithtribe out and about, in no particular order.
