Jacksonville FL to Cape Canaveral FL

Sascha

This morning we were boarded by the US Coast Guard and had a shake down.  Just doing their job, very courteous and professional, they don't miss anything and even took the opportunity to tell our kids they better do their chores if they want their pocket money!  :)  (They spotted the chore chart)

We were anchored in the St Johns inlet, the current was pretty strong, so happy to be out a there, didn't want a repeat of "Things that go Bump in the night", heading to Cape Canaveral.

The wind was perfect and we put up the main sail and the genoa.  The sea state was a bit lumpy with a swell on the beam.

Sky, Layla and Rourke, what to do in lumpy sea, watch a movie!

We sailed 160 nautical miles(24hrs) and arrived at Cape Canaveral (the space rockets launch from here!)

In order to get to our anchorage we had to go through an triple draw bridge and a lock.

Entering the lock

Layla, Sky and Rourke securing us to the lock fender wall.

We had a spectator!

Kids got started on school and then we headed ashore for dinner!

I am working on putting a link to our cruising route, a map to follow, still new at this blogging, any ideas?  Please feel free to make any suggestions…   Next stop West Palm Beach!

  1. Hey Y'all!! You're doing a great job keeping up with the blog Sasch...so good to see the pics of you guys...miss you lots...especially on Saturday mornings:)

If you guys are up for it...I may send my sister down there to meet you. She is aching for some sailing water and could use a few days break...I think you guys would all adore her and I know she will love you all. Let me know if you want company...she would probably come in the next few weeks.

I had a great week this past week. A lady was wearing one of my hair clips when she went to her hairdresser. The hairdresser owned the salon and the lady still had my card. She called me and I met with her. She bought several hundred dollars worth of stuff and ordered several hundred more. Yaaaaaayyyyyy!!!!!!

Hope you are all well and happy...love and kisses....Jess

  2. You guys are doing a terrific job of letting we armchair world adventurers go along with you. Don't guess there'd be enough room on the boat if we all ACTUALLY went along. Probably have to schedule the bathroom (oh, excuse me - I mean the head). So we'll just enjoy the adventure from afar. That way we get some of the enjoyment without the hurling part. :-)

Looks like y'all are making good time with the weather cooperating. And I think the map idea is great. That way we can all get a much better idea where you're actually located and track your movements.

    Continue to be safe!
