The Classroom

We have completed our first year of home school and the kids have done well. (and I am still sane :) )  It has been a learning curve for us all.  It requires hard work and dedication, no slacking off.  As a teacher I have to be consistent, about the time we start in the mornings, about the lengths of the breaks we take, about staying focused. (esp. when there are dolphins swimming and splashing about outside all day)  It helps that we have a daily curriculum set out for us by Calvert.  Calvert has been going for 100 years and have really perfected the art of home schooling.  Check them out at http://homeschool.calvertschool.org/

We share a lot of laughs and the kids have come to know my weaknesses…    kids:  "How about a little back massage mom?"  mom: "Huh! Yeah, lets take a break".  The little deck swabs also have the power to make me cry with laughter and whip that trick out whenever they can.

The new books for the new year

One of the benefits of home schooling is that it allows us to travel, yes it is a lot of work but there is no other place I'd rather be.

The world is a book, and those who do not travel, read only a page.
